God bless you, now let's get into it.

Restlessness has a physical location.

It usually shows up in the same moment each day. Late afternoon for some. Just before bed for others. The moment your hand is already reaching for the phone before you have consciously decided to reach.

Once you know where your restlessness lives, you can put something else there.

This week's theme: Hunger.

Today, the practical one. A small redirect you can use in the exact moment the wrong hunger shows up.

THE REDIRECT

The practice is simple. It has three parts.

One. Notice the reach.

Sometime today, your hand will move toward the phone, or the fridge, or the browser tab, or whatever it is for you. Before you have thought about it. This is not a moral failure. It is a signal. Something in you is restless and reaching for the fastest available soothe.

Do not judge it. Just notice it. That is step one.

Two. Name the hunger.

Pause for a moment and ask, what am I actually hungry for right now?

The honest answer is almost never "a scroll." It is usually something like: I am lonely. I am overwhelmed. I am bored. I am anxious about tomorrow. I am avoiding a conversation. I am tired but I do not want to sleep because sleep means tomorrow.

Whatever the honest answer is, name it. Not out loud necessarily. Just to yourself. The hunger under the reach is nearly always more spiritual than material.

Three. Redirect.

Once you have named it, you have a choice you did not have thirty seconds ago. You can still reach for the phone, and now you know why you are reaching, which changes something.

Or you can redirect. Redirects can be tiny. A one-line prayer. "Father, I am reaching for this because I feel lonely. Sit with me instead." A step outside for thirty seconds of air. A verse spoken over yourself. A text to someone real, instead of the endless scroll.

Small redirect. Not a total lifestyle overhaul. Just one redirect, one time today.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

Notice what Jesus does not say. He does not say, "sort your life out and then come to me." He does not say, "stop reaching for the wrong things and then come to me." He says come. As you are. Weary and reaching and hungry.

The redirect is not you earning your way to him. The redirect is you letting him meet you in the exact moment you would normally reach for something else.

He is already there. He has been there in every reach you have ever made. You just have not always noticed him.

This week, notice him.

YOUR ONE THING FOR TODAY

Use the redirect once today. That is it.

Notice a reach. Name the hunger. Redirect toward him.

You will forget most of the time this week. That is fine. The win is doing it once, deliberately, today.

Father, meet me in the reach. When my hand moves for something small and empty, help me pause long enough to hear you already offering something else. Teach me to redirect, gently, all week. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

WATCH THE NEW VIDEO

If today's practice landed, my new video walks through the deeper version of it. God has already told us where real satisfaction comes from, and most of us have been reaching in the wrong direction for years.

OVER TO YOU

Where does your restlessness usually show up? Time of day, or type of moment. Hit reply with one line. I read every one.

God bless you, my friend.
