Hey my friend welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter, thanks for being here! If this blesses you, share it with someone who needs it. They can sign up free at thelowkeychristian.com/newsletter. God bless you, now let's get into it.
This week's theme: Identity.
It's Sunday. We've spent all week looking at who God says we are. We've studied. We've challenged ourselves. We've torn off labels and confronted hard truths. Today, like last Sunday, we rest.
FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE
No long teaching today. Just scripture. Read it slowly. Let every line land.
"You have searched me, Lord, and You know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue You, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book
before one of them came to be." - Psalm 139:1-16
Read it one more time. Even slower.
This is your identity document. Not your passport. Not your CV. Not your social media profile. This.
God searched you and knows you. He knows when you sit and when you rise. He perceives your thoughts before you think them. He is familiar with all your ways. Not just the good ones. All of them.
And knowing all of that, knowing every thought, every failure, every hidden thing, He still says: fearfully and wonderfully made.
He didn't make you and then discover the flaws. He knew everything about you before you were born and He made you anyway. On purpose. With intention. With delight.
All the days ordained for you were written in His book before one of them came to be. That includes today. This Sunday. This quiet moment right now. It was planned for. Written down. Ordained.
You are not an accident. You are not a mistake. You are not a rough draft. You are the finished, intentional, carefully crafted work of a God who doesn't make errors.
Rest in that today.
YOUR ONE THING FOR TODAY
It's Sunday. No homework. No challenge. Just read Psalm 139 one more time before bed tonight. Not to study it. Just to let it remind you of who you are and whose you are. That's enough for today.
God, You know me. Better than I know myself. You know the parts I try to hide and the parts I'm ashamed of and the parts I've never shown anyone. And You still call me wonderfully made. I don't fully understand that. But today I'm choosing to rest in it. Thank You for making me on purpose. Thank You for knowing every day of my life before I lived a single one. I am Yours. That's the only identity I need. Amen.
FROM THE ARCHIVE
To close this week gently, I made a video called I Read Every Verse About Love in the Bible (Here's What I Learned). A peaceful, encouraging watch for a Sunday.
OVER TO YOU
We've spent a whole week on identity. What's the one thing that will stick with you? Hit reply and tell me. I read every single one.
God bless you, my friend.
